Spanish ads and Stormtroopers, oh my!

Classes seem to be flying by so quickly. Expect for the times I have projects and papers due. Lol We really only have 1 month left then finals then a short break. I'll be graduating at the end of next semester and I can hardly stand it. It has taken me what seems like forever to get here.

I had to do an ad in Spanish about a state park. It was easy to compile but not so easy to do in front of a class. I can write papers with the best of them though I dislike it immensely, especially starting them. For the life of me though, no matter how many times I stand in front of people, I just can't seem to shake one single ounce of this fear of public speaking. I stumbled a few times through the Spanish ad and had to look at my paper to remember. Once I stumble my mind just goes blank. I think I concentrate too much on the mess up and not enough on pulling it back together. Ah well. It went ok though. I survived. Lol

Had my birthday in October and turned....none of your business. Old huh? :P Really though, my birthday was great. I also look forward to carving a pumping every year. I love, love, love Halloween and I love carving pumpkins. I usually take the seeds and bake them afterwards. Thinking about this makes me want to go grab a pumpkin just to bake the seeds now! Anyway, usually I do what ever I choose to do but this time around my DH requested a pattern. So I obliged. :) And here is what our pumpkin looked like:

Halloween 2013: Stormtrooper Pumpkin Carving

I had fun and I like the way it turned out. All in all our Halloween was a great one and what makes it even better was that there was leftover candy for us! Bonus!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Halloween, if you celebrated that is. On to the next holiday....Thanksgiving.

Just so you know, I'm still here!

It's definitely been a while.

Classes have started and are keeping me hopping pretty good. I've got one class I am doing 4 presentations in and they are about a week apart from each other. I'll get it done. It just takes a lot of time. I'm also dealing with thyroid issues. If you have a thyroid disease then you definitely know what I am talking about. It's the tiredness that is getting me this time around. UGH! But my doctor and I will hopefully get it sorted.

Meanwhile, are you keeping up with all the good Fall show lineups? Oh wow! There are just too many I want to watch and not enough time to watch them. I did see the pilot for Dads and I managed to catch the first episode of Sleepy Hollow. I just LOVE that we can do this whenever we want. Our schedules wouldn't allow us to watch anything and enjoy it if we had to go by TV schedules. Thank you Roku! You are so awesome. I would bow down to your brilliance if my knees allowed me to do so. Well, the Roku... and Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu....can't forget those three. We would still be able to watch shows on the Roku just not the current ones we are really into without having those 3.

My goodness! Has fall weather arrived where you live yet? It keeps trying to here but at the moment we are sitting in 80 degree weather with HUGE amounts of humidity. It's warm and icky out. I hope Fall weather shoves its way through here soon though. I so look forward to the cool breezes and cold weather. Makes walking in the evenings that much nicer.

I wish you all tons of beautiful memories as Fall arrives!

I'm tired.

The title says it all.

It's late. I'm tired...and now I'm worked up.

I ran across a video someone posted of themselves on the internet. You know those videos, attempting to do something neat ends up with a blooper video that can sometimes be funny. Well, this time, to me, it was funny. Then I made to huge mistake of scrolling and reading the comments. Tons of people berating and bashing this person to bits over a simple blooper video meant to be silly. I was shocked...and then I remembered where I was...on the internet. It got me to thinking about how people behave. Most people behave rationally when in a real life setting (notice I said most people). For some reason though when it comes to the internet, you find some people can say the most cruelest things and it makes you wonder how they can be *that* ugly inside. What made them think that it was ok to say what they said regardless of the setting? If they were in public, would they say these things to people's faces? If they didn't think it was ok to say in public, why would they think it was ok to say on the internet? Even though it is keyboard typing it is still public. What clicked in their brains to make them flip from it not being ok to it being ok as long as it is online? It's still being said, online or real world. It still has the same connotations behind it. It still looks as bad as it sounds coming out of their mouth. And it still hurts people just as it would in real life. You can see so much ugly spewing from someone's mouth that it just makes your heart sink to know they have that in them to be that hateful. And I have to wonder every time I see things like this...they can't possibly be this horrible in person. What is even more daunting to me as I read more of the comments on this particular post is that there are so *many* commenters with this same nastiness going from their brains to their fingertips. The same disgusting hate-filled ignorance in comment after comment. Now, granted, some did stand up for the person who posted the video but more often than not the comments were anything but nice. And so, seeing all of those comments I had to stop and wonder: Are there *that* many people out there with this much anger/hate? I'm not naive, don't get me wrong. I do know the world is vast and that there are all types of people out there. This being the internet, and readily available to many, of course there will be even larger "group mentality" issues but it's just completely shocking to see so many ugly people gathering over one silly video of some girl trying to dance and falling (literally). Instead of seeing the humor in it, these people chose to belittle her and become extremely nasty towards her. I just don't get it. No, more so, I just don't see the point of it. I don't see the point of carrying around all that nastiness and I don't see the point of dishing it to others for no reason at all.

I scream, he screams, we all scream for.....Cereal!

Yeah, that's right. Cereal.

I won a giveaway a few weeks or so ago for Honey Bunches of Oats Greek Honey Crunch. Up until this win I'd never tried this cereal before and, frankly, I was getting kind of tired of the usual Frosted Flakes for breakfast. So I was in desperation for a change in breakfast and it was a wonderful for me when I found out I won the cereal.

I received 2...not one...but 2 boxes of it and I was beyond thrilled to find that we just loved it! Even more importantly, I was beyond thrilled to find out that my DH loved it because that meant one more breakfast choice we could both enjoy. He was a little hesitant when he found out there was yogurt in it but wow he loved it! So, I let them know just how awesome it was. And then guess what happened.....

Just last week I received a very unexpected box in the mail from none other than the PR that was originally holding the giveaway! Inside the box was a lovely note stating that they heard I loved it so much they thought I should try to new Honey Bunches of Oats Greek Mixed Berry.....AND 2 boxes of this cereal! Wow! These people rock! And not only that but their cereal rocks!

Thank you for the delicious and new choices you've now brought into my days. :)

Here's to great breakfasts, great days, and fabulous people!

My Beautiful Creation

You know all those recipes you share on Facebook, the ones you always say yum to or maybe wish you had the supplies to make? Well, the other day I shared one called a No Bake Strawberry Icebox Cake. It looked to delicious! I'm crazy about strawberries. Absolutely crazy about fruit in general but oh those strawberries looked so good! In fact, they looked so good I actually remembered to get them at the store! *amazed*

So sparing you all the rambling and just posting what it looked like when I was done:

No Bake Strawberry Icebox Cake

Alright, it doesn't look nearly as great in this photo as it did in the one I got the recipe from but after I ate some of it I can honestly say I don't care. Yes, it was just that good! The recipe was so easy to make. It only called for graham crackers, cool whip, strawberries, and chocolate (to drizzle on top). I should mention though that it took me a little while to make but cutting up the strawberries is what took up most of the time. If you are an expert at slicing strawberries then you won't have to worry. :)

Oh, and if you just happen to want the recipe you can find it on this page So, How's It Taste?

9 Years!

On July 4th my DH and I celebrated our 9th Anniversary. I can hardly believe it. If someone had told me at the age of 20 that I would be married years from then for 9 going on 10 years I would have laughed in their face. Me get married? Ha! The idea at that age seemed unthinkable. I had HUGE plans to deal with and there was plenty of independence to be had!

Fast forward to today and I have to tell you that my life has never been better. My adventures in our 9 years of marriage are far from the ones I planned when I was 20 but they are indeed the best and I cannot image things turning out any other way.

So, for our Anniversary my parents took us out to eat. Very thoughtful of them! We stuffed ourselves with delicious meals from Olive Garden. Yum! I just have to say that our visit before this to Olive Garden was a huge disappointment. We were stuck in a corner without much service and vowing under our breath never to return. And we didn't....for a while. Then my parents took us on July 4th and we had such excellent service from a nice young lady. She was very attentive to us and we left with our bellies full of salad, breadsticks, and main courses...with desserts to go! It was fabulous and I thanked them for the fun! It's times like these that I will cherish years from now.

Afterwards, stuffed to the max, my DH and I took a walk. We walk every July 4th in the evening because that is the time we get to see fireworks. My husband says his usual, "I paid them to do that for our Anniversary." We chuckle and joke about it and continue on our way. If our Anniversary days ended any different, I would think something was wrong.

To my DH (when he reads this):
It's been a wonderful 9 years with you and I can only hope for many more like them. We go together like peanut butter and jelly!

Happy 9th Anniversary

The powerful two letter word "NO"

"No" is such a strong word for only being composed of two letters. That one word can devastate just about anyone at any given time. Yet, when it comes to my lovely little furbaby, he is completely oblivious to it! He is the sweetest dog. He loves to play with people and gets along with friendly people. He absolutely loves playing with kids and other dogs. He is a huge helper. If you drop something, he will gladly run over and pick it up and bring it to you. He knows when we say "Sit" that he should sit. He knows when we say "In" that we mean go inside the house. He also knows that when we ask him if he wants to go walk, he gets to go walk. However, for the life of me he just cannot figure out the word "No"! When I tell him no about the 5th time, I sometimes joke in a sarcastic monotone voice, "No, Toby. No, Toby. No, Toby. Good dog." even though he has yet to obey. It's humor to break the frustration because man it can be frustrating! He knows what we mean with many words and phrases, he just doesn't understand "No"......or does he? Hmm. Sometimes I feel he does know but he is being a clever little pup trying to get away what he can. Or am I reading too much into it?

He's just lucky he looks so damn cute while he ignores me or I'd have a bone to pick with him. :)

Mommy, look what I can do!

It's All Good

Well classes are out for the summer. Last semester was a pretty trying time for all of us but we got through it. My parents are finally in their new home on their land. They had it cleared and went back. It can still be pretty overwhelming to think of all that they lost. Especially their cats and all the old photos of family that just cannot be replaced. However, I just have to remind myself that we are lucky that they got out of their alive.

My DH has been getting along fine. It was a ruptured disc just from reaching for something. He got to where there was no pain but then he had a slight setback not too long ago. He is taking it easy now though and feeling less and less pain. I know it has been a struggle for him and I only hope that it gets easier for him soon.

I am just glad to have the time to breath and relax for a little bit. I've needed it.

I hope summer goes well for everyone and their families. I hope you find wonderful moments and great adventures with your loved ones. :)

Flippin' February the Bird

Oh what a month it has been.

On Super Bowl Sunday (and I only call it that because cant remember the date) I received a call from my stepmom. She was crying hysterically. My parents' home was burning to the ground and all they could do was stand there and watch. Thirty two years of memories and things passed down from parent to child. All gone in on day. Things they will never be able to replace and most of all their two beautiful cats, Miss Kitty and Precious. Their cars were in the driveway and are now melted and totaled in the front. It was one horrible nightmare you see on tv and never think it will happen to your family.

The fire started at the neighbors house. The fire chief says they had an entertainment center in the back room that was overloaded. I get so angry when I recall this because something so careless caused my parents' to lose everything they had.

They have since moved in with my DH and I. It's a little adjustment but we are making it work and we are so happy they made it out alive.

Shortly after this my DH gets laid up in bed from his sciatic nerve. He's been in pain for 5 days now. He had an MRI done today so hopefully when we get the results they won't be bad.

I've been a very busy bee. We've loaned my parents one of our cars since theirs was in the fire so we had to adjust our driving schedule to work around one vehicle. However, since my DH is in bed most of the time now I've had to run and do a lot myself on top of my regular schedule. It's been an adjustment to say the least.

You know where you can go, February.

PetPals Program

It's that time of the month again! It's time for my post about the PetPals Program. And yes, it was awesome! This time I was paired with a woman named Samantha and her lovely dog, Charlie. We got off to a slow start but really it wasn't too bad. The holidays kept us busy along with illness but we both managed to get our packages sent out.

When Toby's package arrived, he was on it super fast!

He's circle around the package
like a shark.

Sneaky boy! He's about to grab
and run in this photo.

He ran off with the rope toy.
First thing out of the bag.

I let him exam the package then opened up one side of it to let him sniff it. He then decided that he wanted what was in the package so he reached in grabbed the first thing he could and ran! I pulled out the other two toys one at a time so he could play with each of them. I think he had more fun than he did with the toys we bought him for Christmas! Eventually he got to sample to treats. Actually, he did more than just sample them because I think my DH gave him several of each of them.

Here are a couple more photos of him enjoying his toys. I just have to add that he really, really took to the little owl toy. It had a squeaky in it's head and the body made crinkling noises. This was the toy he carried around with him for several days and took to bed with him!

Playing with his little
Christmas Bulb Squeaky Toy.

Toby with his Owl. His ears are down because
he thought I was trying to get his owl
when I was taking this photo.

Last but definitely not least is the photo I took to show you all the neat little goodies he got for this PetPal month.

His goodie box for this month contained two treat bags, a rope toy, a squeaky Christmas Bulb, and a little owl that crinkles and squeaks.

I want to thank Samantha and Charlie for such an awesome package! Toby and I had a wonderful time opening up his box of goodies. I also want to thank Jenna for keeping such an awesome program going. It's been a great experience so far and I look forward to each month we get to do another exchange. If you want to know more about the PetPals Program just go to Momma Told Me - PetPals for all the information you need. Remember, you do *not* have to be a blogger to participate.

How are you?

How were your Holidays? Mine were great. We even had snow on Christmas day! That was absolutely wonderful! I think it was about 10 inches of snow in this area. Not a lot to some northerners but to me it was absolutely wonderful. The only bad part was that my parents' electricity went out due to the winter storm. Actually, there were tons of outages all over the state. So my parents crashed at my place for almost a week. It was great to have them there though.

Classes started up for me about a week ago. I'm not really as stressed out about it as I was last semester and so far I am actually enjoying them. Of course, let's see what I say about them by the middle of the semester! lol

Oh, and in February I'll be heading down to see my mom and sisters. I'll get to see my niece again and it will be the first time I get to see my nephew (3 yrs old). I'm so excited!

Have some great days ahead of me. Hopefully you do too. :)
