My very awesome birthday.

Well, today is my birthday! I woke and got ready for class to find I did not have to get up early because class was canceled. Of course, I only found this out after waiting for 20 minutes. That will teach me to check the door for a note from now on! So, no class on my birthday. Score 1. I then dropped my DH off at work today and found I did not have to wait in a long line (thank you Columbus for this holiday). Score 2. Then my parents made a surprise visit bearing cards and flowers. They stayed for a little while and even treated me to lunch! Score 3. I received a text message from a wonderful Aunt whom I had not heard from in a long time as well as a text from a sister I thought was angry at me. Both wishing me a wonderful day. Score 4. I also received a phone call from an awesome niece (8 yrs old) who sang out a rendition of Happy Birthday to me. Score 5. Finally, to close my wonderful day, I have a very loving DH who sent me text messages all day reminding me of how special his birthday woman is. Score 6.

As you can tell my birthday was just great! Oh, one more thing I got a chef collection salt and pepper shaker pair.....*drumroll*.....and a ROKU!!!! :) :) :)

Perfect day!

Discovery of a Mystery!

I've got to share this with you just in case you don't know about it.  There is this store online called GraveyardMall that sells odds and ends. I read about it once while looking through a blog email. At the time they had a sale going on an item called Mystery Box. I passed it up and by the end of that same night it sold out. Of course, that it sold out so fast made me I signed up for their newsletter and soon forgot about it. About 2 weeks ago I was checking email and ran across a GraveyardMall Newsletter that said they were offering the Mystery Box again. This time I figured why not? I mean, it is guaranteed! Oh, did I forget to mention that? Heh, yes, they guarantee that if you are not happy with what they send then you can return it and get your money back (shipping costs payed by them). Can't really go wrong there, right? So, forward to two days ago, I finally received my box! For the price I payed I definitely got my money's worth. There was a wide range of gifts in my box from decorations to electronic gadgets to kitchenware. They packed that puppy tight! When you order they tell you to give them information about you and your family so that they can customize the items to what you like. The items are by no means extremely expensive. Let's be real here folks. They'd loose their a$$ if they did that BUT the items are WELL WORTH the money spent. I can hardly wait for another Mystery Box to become available for order!

It feels good to be lazy.

I told my DH yesterday that we would be doing nothing today. I needed a break. Guess what? We did NOTHING today! Yay! What a thoughtful man. :) Well, no not exactly nothing. I mean, we did actually move around some. You know, from recliner to kitchen and back.  We also managed to go outside a few times to relieve the dog. Oh, and we watched 3 movies! Yes, 3 movies! They were awesome though. We started with Yogi Bear. That movie had me laughing so much. Definitely worth the watch and a LOT better than I thought it would be. The second movie was Beastly. Well, if that isn't a learn-a-lesson movie I don't know what is. I enjoyed this one as well. I wasn't sure though because I've never been a fan of the grownup version of the Olsen twins but really, she was a good actress. I was impressed. The last movie we watched was Rio. I've wanted to watch this one for some time now. Yes, I also liked this one. However, I think I enjoyed Yogi Bear a little more. I just felt Yogi Bear had a tad bit more humor in it. Or at least, things I found interesting. Not to say you shouldn't watch it! Because I fully feel you should and I DID like it. I just felt I enjoyed Yogi Bear a little more.

....and now I think I will go crash from this exhausting day I had. :P

How loud was it? was so loud, if I were in the back bedroom I would have heard it.

At least, I could swear I would have.

Last night our dog wanted to get up on the bed. He is a short dog, a Chiweenie dog named Toby. So when he tried to jump up he missed and decided to try jumping up again. Unfortunately, at this point in time my DH decided he wanted to help. As he reached down to grab Toby, Toby jumped up and WHAM! they met in the middle of stride....with their heads. I kid you not when I say that you could hear the thump as they collided! Toby seemed unfazed (correctly spelled!) by it all and finally got on the bed like he wanted. My DH was holding his head. He hurt but was more concerned about Toby, thinking something horrible would happen to him. And I was worried about both of them, thinking gloom and doom things (yeah, really, it hurt him that bad!). Of course, they are both just fine today. DH just can't run his finger across his head. Seems he has a tiny sensitive (bruised) spot now. So every now and then I hear an "ohh!" coming from his direction as he accidentally runs his fingers atop the area. Poor guy!

To weave a Friendship Bracelet...or maybe not.

It's been a long several weeks for me. I've started Fall classes and the newer schedule has kept me hopping! I'm enjoying it though.

So,  I follow other blogs and I sign up for giveaways. Yes, giveaways. It's fun to do though it can get time consuming. I've had to slack off a bit while I get use to juggling my new class schedules but am slowly entering more and more of them. I came across one that reminded me of a simple, yet fun, childhood memory. I ran across a giveaway for a Friendship Bracelet Maker. Now, first let me just say, this is the cutest thing ever! I do wish I had one like this when I was younger.

(Cue the Childhood Memory Scene)

When I was in my early to middle teens it was a HUGE fad to make these bracelets. The only difference is that we didn't have the luxury of this neat little gadget. We would pick the string colors we wanted. Tie them into a knot. Get that trusty old safety pin out and poke it through the knot at the top of the strings. After stabbing a finger or two and a little blood loss we would then attach the safety pin (which is attached to the strings) to, in my instance, a beautiful bed spread cover. Then the fun part comes with the weaving of the strings. I don't recall ever having patterns to follow and to keep the strings separate we'd have to do some very intricate finger separating. It was fun, did I mention that! No kidding. Ah the memories.....and the countless hours spent unwrapping the bracelet over tiny little mistakes. It sure did teach me patience!

What a moody scale!

It has long been known that electronics are sensitive. In my case, however, my digital scale is downright moody! I get on my scale today in hopes of learning I'm just a smidge lighter than I was a week ago and my scale proceeds to go from 0 to 100 to 200 back down to 0 then has the gall to flash "o-Ld" at me. Old?? Really?? :\ How rude! If someone were standing on you wouldn't you try to be a little polite?!? In an attempt to give it a second chance, because I am all about second chances, I step off the scale then step back on. It proceeds again to go from 0 to 100 to 200 and back down to 0. This time, however, it flashed "o-Ld" THEN "312"!! Eeek! I do get that I am not exactly a light-weight but come on now. My scale has not only managed to insult my looks but it then it must tell me I am WAY over the weight I was last week. I don't know what I did to make my scale so angry but the next time I decide to weigh myself I will bring flowers and chocolates.....and new batteries. :)

I'm 98% sure it's in the trash.

We have had our share of ants this summer and I really thought they would be the biggest issue for us. I was so wrong. So very wrong. Two nights ago I was going to bed and my DH had already gone to bed. As I walked into the bedroom, there at my feet was a GIANT spider. Okay, to some I might be exaggerating but I promise it wasn't a little grass spider. We think it was a wolf spider. So here I am frozen at the door with a spider sitting on the floor at the foot of my bed. I call to my DH while trying to hold our dog so he doesn't chase after the thing. Half asleep my DH grabs the nearest thing he can and sets aim for the spider....and misses. Well, he did get its leg but it managed to pull away and run. Spiders are fast. Are we not in agreement with that? So it takes off towards the dresser and a bag of papers. My DH swears up and down that night that the spider ran into the bag (which was soon thrown in the garbage outside). Convinced that this thing will hunt us down now, I have my DH, my loving DH move furniture around and spray and check a MILLION times just to be sure. No spider. STILL not convinced it ran into that bag that is outside now, I tell him I am leaving the lights on and letting our dog sleep with us. Ever the loving person he is he sleeps, probably quite roughly, with the lights on. See this is why we have been together for 7 years....because he knows the right times to let me have my freakout moments. Sadly though, it's two nights later and I guarantee you I will be sleeping with the lights on again. This time though I have compromised and will keep my bedside lamp on. As if somehow this tiny magical light will keep those hungry fangs at bay, those hungry fangs of a spider that probably really did go into that bag long gone to the garbage days ago. I imagine in a few more days I can sleep through the night without checking for creepy crawlers. For now though, at least I can walk through the bedroom now without staring too long at the carpet! I'd say that's progress. :)

I'm a Newlyblogger!

I'm starting a blog, obviously. It isn't intended to be indepth or time consuming considering my classes will be starting up soon but I've always wanted to have one. Even if it ends up with 2 or 3 posts and a void of entries for a year or two. *g*
